There are over 3000 franchises, some in almost every industry!
Franchising is one of the most widely used business models. It is undergirded by a simple concept, where a franchisor sells to a franchisee, which pays for the right to operate a business in return for a license fee and ongoing royalties, as well as marketing support from the company.
There are over 3000 franchises, some in almost every industry! Even more crucial than the sector is the lifestyle you desire. Do you just want to work during the week? Do you want to conduct the work alone, or do you want to recruit and manage a team? Do you prefer working outside or at a desk? All of these criteria contribute to your ability to select the best franchise for you!
Owner/Operator : Being an owner/operator is a model where you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business. Owner/Operators make all operating decisions.
Executive: An executive model franchise means that your role as a franchisee will be to manage the business but not “do” the business. A good example of this model are franchises providing technical services. As the franchisee you will not be expected to have this technical expertise and will rely on staff to deliver it. Your focus will be on managing the business including operations and business development.
Semi-absent/Passive: In the Semi-absent or Passive Model you, the franchisee, are managing the Managers running your business on a day-to-day basis. In the Passive model you will be even more removed from the day-to-day operation of the business and will have limited time commitments to the business. Usually review performance metrics with your managers. These models are either scaled to from businesses using the other business models or reflect a business goal of establishing a larger, generally multi-unit business.
